Perhaps here, things will be different.

Open space and the Filipino

May 4, 2009

A few minutes ago I commented on J.Eris’ comment here in my blog.

The main blog entry was about the Filipino’s misadventures with democracy, freedom and rights. The comment was about traffic. My response as you can see was about the Filipino situation.

Something I found!

I found this while blog hopping I think it was on lizeth’s blog. This is a fake trailer of Titanic where Jack Dawson is subsequently resurrected after having been found under the sea. I think it’s really funny and a bit creepy. Akin to some older movies like the one Mel Gibson was in where he was frozen and then revived and he begins to age faster than everyone else.

It’s funny actually though I hope this doesn’t become real.

Honor

I will to my lord be true and faithful, and love all which he loves and shun all which he shuns

The above quote is found in wiki-quotes under the honor category. I found it via the game Sid Meier’s Civilization IV. It’s a great thinking game, it takes lots of time to play and some time to actually learn how to play it.

In any case I haven’t been posting for such a long time. I would like to extend my apologies to my adoring public. All 2 of you, including myself.

I’ve been sick for the past how many days. The days prior to that I was under the weather as well and not feeling good enough to write here. What I’ve been doing is that I’ve been writing some things sporadically in Fides Quarens Intellectum I’ve also been to the dentist and stuff.

I’ve been reading some books, some fiction here and there, some self-help and leadership and some law. I actually went to my PC to try and look for some cases for (hopefully) my 3rd year in law. I got way-laid using the dashboard option in blogger and found that Neverland quoted an entry here entitled “Death”

I’d like to extend my thanks to him for finding the time to read through my rambling thoughts!

The quote above is totally unrelated to everything that I put in. I’ll try to write something more substantial tomorrow morning. Congratulations to Pacquiao and to all the politicians who went with him! You now have several more hours to run around the US and not get stuck worrying about your bets. Unless of course you bet on Hatton in which case I suggest you go home immediately.

Online Advertising Redux

February 17, 2009

In my early, early post I talked about ways to make money online. This was a few years ago (wow! so fast huh?). Today I can say that I’ve seen and learned several other ways to make money online. There are certain requirements such as having a PR of 2 or higher while some are actually detrimental to your PR by forcing google to “kill” the site.

Thanks to several co-bloggers I’ve discovered Blogvertise, its a service that allows both bloggers and advertisers to find each other in the wide expanse (perhaps infinite) of the Internet. Sure there are others out there but that might just kill the blog that you worked so hard on. :( In any case I hope to write more about internet services such as this one so I can at least share with you some of the things I have learned on the internet. :)

As I said in my a great adventure post the internet is now a great train station. I’d like to find out where the trains take me to.

So who pays?

February 13, 2009

When you get a free meal who pays for it? Like when the delivery people (not the rider per se but the entire series of events and people linked to order taking, production and delivery) screw up? Go and read what happened to me just today around 3-4pm with a pizza chain. It really worries me to no end. I’ll post on fides quarens intellectum the philosophical and moral aspect and here the queries on who pays.

Screaming and me

I really like huge displays of power or wealth. I like blowout victories. Though the excitement of a dagger during the last few seconds (or tenths of a second) is unimaginable, the sheer satisfaction of a blowout is still my preferred poison. I like big, ostentatious things. Huge and imposing structures appeal to me the most. I may be a megalomaniac.

Every time that I visit my province in Iloilo I always joke about what I’ll do when I get rich. I’ll pump large amounts of money into the province and run it like my own empire. I’ll even build a statue of myself along the hills or down on the valleys reaching into the skies saluting like the Romans. And at the bottom brandishing the words “Uswag _____” a phrase I owe much to Mayor Treñas of Iloilo City.  I like the screaming of slogans and mottos.

Case in point, North Korea. The North Koreans practically worship their version of Great Leader. That’s basically what I want but with a little more prosperity. :)

Gordon Gekko!

February 6, 2009

The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA. Thank you very much.

Yes, that was an actual speech delivered by Gordon Gekko, in a movie. haha Entitled Wall Street. I believe that this is still true today. Unfortunately, greed as a liberator or clarifier or simplifier should be harnessed and focused. It should not run riot in the systems of profit and loss currently available to man. It should be guided, nay, wielded with much care and aptitude. Greed is good, but too much of it can be catastrophic. I’ll post this here, and in my other blog.

Albeit with different thrusts of course.

Here I’ll discuss greed as a tool for economics in the other I’ll try to take it on as a way of thinking.

As Mr. Gekko said, greed is good. From a business standpoint its great! Too many consumers, too addicted to what I have. This equals humongous profits, which in turn creates a trickle down effect (hopefully) to those who have no capacity to own capital but are employed by the firm or the enterprise.

Normally an enterprise will operate with a combination of capital and labor. What I’m driving at here is that the owners will benefit the most and through the employment of human workers we can all support each other. The more money a company makes, the better for its employees! It is a sure fire way of getting everyone out of a slump!

Grades and Employment

Now we’ll know how far grades will take you to be employed! Tomorrow I’ll be applying to government offices for my summer internship! I hope all goes well. I could also apply for private firms but for me government is the way to go!

Aegis 07

February 2, 2009

I’m still waiting for my copy! I got my copy of Blue Book for 2003 already. Where’s my aegis 2007? Please refer to my good friend Ray Español’s quest to get his copy.

I’m not for character assasination or anything. In fact I don’t mind getting my copy in the next few years. But I want my copy! I paid for it!

There should be reforms in the way we do the year book. Probably assign paid goons to do it or something. Just don’t expect students who are graduating to do the year book on time. :)

SWATTING

What is SWATTING

Swatting is the act of sending a swat team to a residence or location with the intent of harrasing the people found therein. It is usually done through a fraudulent 911 phone call. As you can read from the above link several victims have been hurt and thousands of dollars wasted because of pranksters’ continued fake calls. This is normally done through internet voice calls, making it hard to trace for the 911 contact centers.

This is a new method of abusing the powers of the internet and one more reason for governments to crack down the one true democratic institution in the world. :) The hackers derive their power over the chaos of the net so maybe if the net would be more ordered then they’d find it hard to fool around. Plus if they’re found, they can be beaten up and their fingers broken so no more hacking :)

Death

I think what the Philippines needs is not a new beginning but an end. An end to all the corruption and greed and misconceptions on freedom and market economy that we have. We should be willing first to die before we can be truly reborn. We never had a chance to fully develop into a democratic nation. We were rushed into democracy by the Americans after 300 or so years of colonial rule. That’s just too much too fast and today is the result of yesterday’s mistakes. :)

Etheric Nerve Impulse Therapy take 2

January 30, 2009

A few months ago I think I posted something regarding Etheric Nerve Impulse Therapy or ENIT for short. I posted the details in the earlier post. If you want to see it. Here it is

In any event, let me explain to you, my dear reader, what goes down in 1A Bougainvilla. First you go and see Ladie Coronel, the head honcho of ENIT. She’ll look you up with a vanadium stick (other writers before have called it “wand), she’ll poke the palm of your hand with it. The very idea is that the palm has a large number of nerve endings and will be an effective indicator of how healthy you really are. She’ll poke and poke and if she finds any thing of concern she’ll inform you. She doesn’t interview you before poking you or take down your medical history. She’ll lay it out on you through the use of her stick. She’ll tell you what your doctor told you but didn’t tell her, you have high blood pressure or something or that you have a stress problem. My mom used to complain of pains in her stomach and she was really freaked out about it. She unfortunately, didn’t want to have it checked so I brought her to Ladie. Ladie told her it was just gas as a result of stress and had her undergo a therapy session. Mom was relieved but the pain kept coming back so when she did finally have herself checked it was just gastritis, usually due to stress.

Anyway, after her poking around with your palm she’ll instruct one of the therapists there to do you good. It’s essentially a massage that takes away all your stress. I swear you can feel the stress popping from you muscles, your back, your thighs, anywhere where stress is they can find it.

Afterwards you’ll feel as if all your troubles have gone away. You’ll feel very receptive and the drive home will be very dangerous. You’ll probably be too relaxed while driving and might not mind the cars in front of you.

Two blogs, one author

January 29, 2009

I’m having a hard time working two blogs. I still don’t know what to write in one. Now I have double that problem! Haha Anyway go and visit Fides Quarens Intellectum

Or maybe I’ll just do as my blog title says. I’ll write my reflections here, and put my… wait faith seeking understanding also refers to reflections.

Aww Man! Quite a predicament yes? In any case do visit both blogs as I’ll try to write differently for the blogspot blog and my first blog the i.ph blog. Aaaaw :)

The end of exams! The start of a new day!

Yesterday was the last day of our midterms. Today will be a new day of fun and excitement at the school behind the mall. Sadly, our teachers saw fit to give us a free day today, save for one. So I still have to wake up, study, take a bath and go. Back to the daily grind.

Looking at the bright side, at least I can still catch up with my studies before the finals. I actually would like to get an academic citation this semester. I’m starting to have nightmares about my unemployability after law school if I just chill out, much like what I did in high school and college. It’s strange that I attempted to escape from the ghosts of mediocrity in college by going to law school and I still find myself being vexed by these same spirits. You can never really escape from the grade system. You just have to live with it and beat it.

Last exam!

January 26, 2009

Tomorrow will be the last exam for the midterms! I can’t believe it I’m finally taking notice of things like these. I have never felt so stupid in my life. For 4 years in college I have breezed through most of my classes. Most were really fun. This whole experience, however, is a very different creature. It’s fun but at the same time excruciatingly hard. I have never before questioned my purpose in life except now. Well I hope I can see this through.

Etheric Nerve Impulse Therapy

If you’re into alternative medicine or non-western stuff I suggest you mosey over to ENIT in New Manila. It’s in 1A Bouganvilla just off of Balete Drive.

I haven’t been to accupuncture people or other Chinese med stuff yet but this has by far been the most helpful. If you’ve got aches and pains all over your body get on over there tell a few of your complaints to Ladie Coronel and she’ll fix you up good.

I’ll write more about the experience next time I’m just not too inspired to write just yet.
